Dr David Anderson (PhD) is a consultant physiotherapist with extensive experience in the management of acute and chronic spinal conditions. He has worked closely with orthopaedic surgeons and neurosurgeons in both hospital and multidisciplinary private practice settings, including Prince of Wales Private Hospital and Sydney Spine Institute.

Biography

His clinical expertise includes the assessment and treatment of complex spinal pain conditions, particularly before and after spinal surgery. Dr Anderson completed his PhD on improving outcomes for spinal stenosis at The University of Sydney in 2021. With qualifications in both Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology, he combines hands-on treatment with evidence-based exercise prescription to support recovery and long-term function.

In addition to clinical practice, Dr Anderson is an academic and researcher within the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney. His research is on improving outcomes for people with spinal pain, cervical myelopathy, lumbar spinal stenosis, and placebo methodology. His doctoral research included the design and delivery of a landmark clinical trial investigating the management of lumbar spinal stenosis.
